The Class of 1986 Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor all deceased members of the class of 1986. The fund offers renewable, single-year $1,000 scholarships, to students with demonstrated financial need who exhibit leadership and/or teamwork via community service, volunteer work, sports, or employment.
At the end of each school year, an award of $1,000.00 will be presented to a current student who exemplifies the spirit of the Class of 1986.
For the 2023 school year, we awarded two scholarships to two rising juniors, Zack DeRoche and Ethan Ridings.

As a demonstration of teamwork and unity, our class of 1986 is collaborating on fundraising for the new Scoreboard in the Ted Healy Sports Complex. The sports complex is not just about football. It offers several opportunities for multiple sports to be played and a place to bring people together to create memories… athletes, spectators, family, friends, alumni, graduations, special events, etc.
Let’s not forget… our class of ‘86 contributed to some of the best sports history at AWHS…
The 1985 football team went 10-0 in the regular season, won the Catholic Central League championship, and advanced to the school’s first Super Bowl appearance. Our classmates, including the leadership of Ted Healy, demonstrated teamwork and success and certainly gave us all some great sports memories in the history of AWHS.
As you know, Ted was an exemplary team player in both football and track during his time at AWHS. Through his hard work, dedication, & leadership, Ted made a positive impact on and off the field throughout his life.
The scoreboard dedication is a class of ‘86 project that we can all participate in and share a piece of our unity with the future of AWHS….

The opportunity that our class has been offered is to have the scoreboard named for the Class of 1986.
Why the scoreboard? A scoreboard carries meaning with it, it symbolizes time, success, memories and achieving goals.
The class of 1986 has achieved so much, and it should be celebrated. We should continue to celebrate the lives of the classmates we have lost and funding this would do just that while supporting the success and goals of future students.
In order for the scoreboard to be named for our class, we would need to raise $75,000 as gift to fund the new high-tech scoreboard and installation.
$75,000 may seem like a lot of money, but we thought we could breakdown and suggest various donation amounts that could help us reach our goal.
$35 = Years since graduation
$72 = Ted’s football jersey number
$190 = The amount of graduating classmates
$866 = Total Student Body in 1986
$1,986 = Year we graduated
We have a few other ideas around fundraising that we are hoping will help us meet this amount and help us leave our footprint and support the future generations.
If this is of interest, the school has agreed to allow us to structure this gift in many ways in order to reach our goal, including multi-year commitments.
